  • my dd just started kindergarten, she is doing the same thing. i actually talked to her teacher about it today, and she said that it's not just her. she said kids just aren't use to sitting for that length of time and they are just adjusting to it. and they don't use recess or lunch for going to the bathroom because they want to play so bad. she said they figure it out and soon get past it. my dd is getting better at going, i remind her everyday to go before she plays at recess and during lunch. she has to be reminded at home too, otherwise she forgets because she is playing or watching tv and doesn't want to "miss" anything. so, she gets rewarded with tickets, that go in a jar, for going to the bathroom, she also gets extra tickets for staying dry at school. when her jar is full of tickets she gets to pick a prize, she wants to go to chuck e cheese. everytime she has an "accident" she looses 2 tickets. continued:

  • Wow that's tough. My d started school this year but he hasn't had an accident since he was 4 and it was rare and only at night. Maybe she's afraid of going to the bathroom without you there. Keep talking to her about it and don't scold. Gently ask her what you can do to help her go at school.

  • cont.:
the process has been going for about a month, and she is finally starting to have fewer accidents. before we started this, the accidents were almost daily, now she has gone 10 days straight, without a single accident. so hang in there, you guys can get through this. i know it is frusterating. just try to keep your cool, and don't make a big deal out of the accidents, make a big deal when she actually goes to the bathroom. she'll start to figure out that going gets her praise. it's like potty training all over again. but you'll get through it as long as you keep on her, remind her to go and praise her for going. that's the key.

  • Maybe suggest to the teacher that they have scheduled bathroom breaks? It may be a good idea to suggest that so your daughter isn't worried about missing anything. Also, making sure she goes before going to school helps. Good luck!

  • Talk to the teacher, see if she can't schedule bathroom breaks. Since dd is afraid of missing something that should ease her mind!

  • Talk to her teacher and see if she can help with encouraging her to go at specific intervals and reassuring her that she won't miss anything important.
