Do you follow the 5 second rule?

If food drops on the floor, will you eat it if picked up immediately? Do you let your kids?

  • It scientifically proven that you can safely eat food that has been on the floor for no longer than 10 seconds. However, I don't let my children do it only because one dd is 3, the other is 1 and I don't want them thinking they can pick up anything off the floor and eat it, lol. When they're older and understand the concept though, I will let them on certain foods. Not stuff like semi-solids are anything like that (like dropping a sandwich jelly side down, eww)
