How many pounds of pasta for 15-20?

We're having about 15-20 people, a good amount of snacks before hand, for dinner we are going very easy casual and just making a huge tray of pasta, a big salad and lots of bread, then of course cake and cookies for dessert. The question is, how much pasta should I make to feed that many?

  • 5 pounds of pasta. 1 pound feeds four people. I'd make a little extra though with the way some people can eat pasta, me included.

  • 1/4 pound per person is an ample serving, especially if everyone's been snacking beforehand.

  • How many adults, how many kids? If we're having other stuff with it, I need to make 1 lb for my family of 2 adults and 4 kids - if we're not having extra it takes 1.5 lbs for the 6 of us. So...I'd probably go with 4-5 lbs just to make sure I had enough.

  • I make 1 pound (1 box) for our family too. We are 2 adults, 3 kids. So say it averages out to 4 adults. So multiply 4 x 5 to get 20. So 5 pounds?

  • What type of noodle are you using? I'd say probably 5 or 6 boxes.
