  • Sometimes, they just don't have the need to burp. Do what you can, and if there are no burps, then go about your day.

  • I always found that rubbing the back a little in between burps helped get the air out. If not after a couple minutes I just didn't push it. they might just not be getting much air :) My bf babies didn't burp very often, but my nephews and nieces needed it in the middle of every feeding, so i also think it depends if you are using a bottle.

  • I used to burp my son with him resting on my lap. He burped easily like that.

  • I counted to 60. If she didn't burp I stopped trying.

  • My son needs to burp even while nursing or he throws everything up. I pat his back, then rub his back starting from his behind going up towards his neck, and if those burps are really stubborn then I lay him on his back and move his knees up towards his chest very slowly. those work for me.

  • After trying for a few mins and trying different positions I stop trying. I also burp him after every ounce he eats.

  • i have a 2 weeks old and i wasnt burping her until 2 days ago i noticed her tumyy was very enlarged, like to the max. i put my had on it and it was hard as a rock. i looked up why this could be and everything i found led to me not burping her- leading to gas build up. so i wouldnt just give up. i set her down for a bit and give her a few seconds and then try again. so far it has worked almost every time.

  • My mom had to show me how to burp my oldest. I would sit him up on my knee with my hand on his chest, holding his head up. This bent his body just a little forward. I would rub his back with my other hand, really slowly and gently. Eventually, he would start to burp, but the slight bend in his torso allowed the gas to rise up, but kept most of the liquid in his tummy.

Every baby is different though, and you just have to keep trying. Once you find the thing that works, stick with it!
