What's the best way to get the labels (and goo) off of wine bottles?

I'd like to start painting them. Those labels are persistent though.

  • Well I couldn't have said it any better than the other Mom's. My first try would be the goo gone and then alcohol. I am not sure about vaseline. I once used that on something to get soemthing sticky off and I could never get the residue off. Good luck. And make sure you use the right paint, which I only mention because I painted some flowers on some once with the wrong paint apparently and they never dried properly. I am sure you are much smarter than me and you can laugh at my blunder but I thought that I would just throw that our there.
