What should I get my kids for Christmas?

I have a 10 yr old girl 9, 6,5,1 yr old boys. I do not want to get toys because they just end up in the trash and the kids dont really play with them. any ideas.

  • You have to have them write a Christmas list for that answer.

  • Start listening to them. When they say, "I want that!" Write it down. Come up with a good list for each. I spend more time on my lists than actual shopping. Ask them what they want.

  • Tickets to children's events, fun clothes with their favorite characters, books, movies, cowboy boots, crafty things to do with them, christmas music.....make christmas an "event" rather than focussing on gifts, focus on food, family, church, and let the gifts be fun but not expensive....

  • Get them a couple REALLY BIG boxes (washing machine or refrigerator size), and each a pack of markers/crayons. Most kids just want the box stuff comes in anyway.
