s/o God's capabilities and Jesus

So, can someone explain to me why God had to send Jesus down to earth in order for us to be forgiven? I think b/c we had to learn something, something that only Jesus could tell us.
So again, we come back to God's capabilities.

Can God make a rock so big he can not lift it?

  • B/C God requires atonement for sin - Christ was that atonement because he was the only human being who was perfect.

  • Can God make a rock so big he can not lift it?

No. That is a contradiction, and God cannot contradict himself.

  • Why does God require atonement, and why can't imperfect people atone?

  • Atonement is payment for sin. God requires that we pay for the sins we commit. He requires "spotless" atonement. The Israelites were required to take a first born lamb, that was without illness or anything else making it unclean, in order to atone. The problem was that animal sacrifice only made atonement for past sins. We cannot ultimately atone for our own sins, because we sin again and again and again ... which requires more and more atonement. Since Christ was perfect, he could take the past, present, and future sins and atone for them all at once.

  • why God had to send Jesus down to earth in order for us to be forgiven? in these days, after his death, we have christianity, because Jesus died on the cross, shedding his innocent sin for everyone's sin. he was sinless, so his blood was innocent. because of this, we don't have to kill innocent blood for our sins, God's already done that for us! we have it easy. Repent, be baptised, recieve the Holy Ghost, live for him and have a relationship with him. in the OT, before God was manifested in flesh and died for us, there was no 'christianity' as is called these days, it was more a 'covenant' with God. even then, innocent blood had to be shed for sins, and that was animals. it had to be animals because ALL men are born into sin, meaning that even babies couldn't be sacrifices unto God (thankfully, i'd cry every time i read the bible lol) the first innocent bloodshed was when God slayed an animal to (literaly) cover adam and eve

  • God can do anything. there is nothing he's not capable of. Jesus was God robed in flesh, he wasn't a seperate being/spirit.

  • What do you suggest then to save mankind from death? Anybody, anybody? Cure for death anyone? Do you have anything else that will work? A ransom is blood for blood, it is equal.

  • Why can't God accept a "Sorry"

Because that doesn't fulfill the requirement for atonement.
