How long does it usually take to pass a kidney stone once it is discovered?

  • It took 6 hours after the pain began for my Hubby.

  • He actually had to go to the hospital because we weren't sure what wa going on. They gave him a morphine drip.

  • It depends on a few things like. 1) WHERE it is discovered, 2) How big it is, 3) How much liquid you consume after it's discovered, I passed some and couldn't pass one. They couldn't do the blasting and ended up cutting me open and taking it out. This last time they found it in the kidney and blasted it before it went in to the tube and did damage. There is a group on CM for moms who deal with kidney stones.

  • It took me like 12 hrs to pass my kidney stone and let me tell you HOLY SHIT did it hurt. So I guess it all depends on the person or size of the stone.
