Your teachers' education....

Between all 3 kids we have 11 teachers this year. (1 elementary, 6 middle school, & 4 high school) Eight out of the elven teachers have their masters and one even has a doctorate!

Im not sure how other schools compare... but I think that is pretty good.

Is this the norm? How many teachers do you have this year and how many have above a bachlors degree?

  • Teachers need to take continuing education credits every year in order to remain certified. You will find more and more teachers with masters degrees because of the con ed... plus they get a better pay rate with a masters.

  • Teacher here: yes teachers do have to have continuing education units every year....but most schools offer free workshops that fulfill this requirement.

The main reason most teachers have a masters degree is b/c of pay. There is a significant increase in pay and you are basically doing the same job, you just have to complete the degree. Its sort of dumb not to get it.

And also the "no child left behind" policy required teachers to become "highly qualified" which required most teachers to get a few extra college credits. Most just went ahead and added on a few more to get a masters. Why not? lol
