How much should you interact with your newborn?

I have a 2 week old and i feel like she is starting to wake up more.Im still getting used to playing with her and trying to be more interactive but i feel like im not doing enough. i feel guilty later becasue i dont want her to be bored with me! how much do you play with your newborn? i know she still needs her sleep but she hasnt stayed up for longer than 20 mins, and only about 3/4 of that time i am able to get her attention. suggestions?

  • she wants bodily contact now, way until they are like four months old. holding her is heaven to her, also singing, humming, rockign in arms, touching and massaging after washing verrry gently, skin to skin is what she misses form your womb! let her feel your hair on her hands, then soon she will grip it like my six month old now is! she will smell you and know you love her from your gentle care, the way you sound and touch her,. stroke her hands and head, dress her very gently. play soft music (mine has enya on right now low as she has fallen asleep). music is awesom efor babies. they liek a little buzz of music ratehr than stark silence. kiss her. dont overstimulate but never neglect them always talk or comment or narrate what youre doing aloud, this has been a tip in both parenting magazines i get. my mother is a nurse and she agrees. also, go for long sleeves ratehr than short at this age, they are on the cold side.

  • they just like to look around at different things.... they can't really see very far at that age. they like to hear the sound of your voice, so i like to sing or read to them when they're small like that. don't worry about her getting bored with you..... she's 2 weeks old. everything is new and facinating lol.
