a good breakfast to give a 3yr old with a cough?

ds every morning the past couple of days woke up with a cough. this morning's was the worst, the coughing actually woke him up, it's a dry cough. of course the first thing he says is he's hungry and wants to eat. and of course he wants pop tarts. as usual. (no he does not get this every morning, they are just his preference, every morning) as usual i told him no. especially this morning cuz it will stick in his throat and make it worse. so i'm trying to figure out something that won't make his cough worse. i've already warmed up some juice and gave it to him (which normally works), he hasn't coughed since, but i'm not wanting to give him something to make the cough come back, so dairy is out of the question. anyone have any ideas? i gotta run to the store for cough meds today...oh yeah does anyone know the best generic cough medicine and where to get it?

  • Oatmeal, it should go down easy and warm them up inside.

  • I'd call the pedi in reguards to the medicine. They should be able to do that over the ph. I like the fruit idea. Maybe canned fruit cause it is soft and juicy.
