Do you leave your baby in thier crib if they're not crying?

My son is almost 6 months old and has been sleeping from 7:30pm to about 6:30am (I know we're pretty lucky!) But when he wakes up he has been hanging out in his crib talking and rolling around- not crying/fussing.. Has your infant done this and do you leave them or pick them up as soon as they're awake?

  • i've been known to let mine play on their own for a bit.... that independent play can be good for little ones.

  • I usually leave them until they start fussing a little. If they are in there for a while, though, I go get them so they know they don't have to cry to get my attention. My 1 year old just yells for me, has since she was 4 months old. She never cried, just

  • I absolutely let my babies hang out in their beds after awakening to have some alone time before I go get them. I think they actually appreciate it!

  • Oh I would let them roll around and play, it's a good sign of independance

  • Thanks ladies! I think he enjoys his alone/quiet time before beginning the day.. Just didn't know if there was any reason why we shouldn't leave him in there for a bit.

  • Yes, why not? Is a little extra time for you.

  • Well, think about how you enjoy a few minutes or awhile in bed before having to get up. A lot of times, ask yourself "how would I feel or what would I lke done to/ for me? Its like those baby clothes that cover their whole body and zip in front. I bought an adult verson one time. Do you know why the child gets hot? Because those bunny night suits are hot!! They don't breath. They're made out of nylon, not cotton which breaths. If I'm hot, its likely my baby is too, unless they are cold / or hot blooded. Sorry, I'm getting away from the question. We all enjoy time alone no matter what age we are! LOL

  • My 22 month old always has been much happier getting up if I give him a little while of alone time before I actually go get him out of his crib (now his bed).

  • Of course :) It teaches them to play alone and have some quiet down time. I leave my 14 month old son in there talking to himself every morning until he starts to whine or call for me :)
