help! please.. my 11m ds used to sleep, not anymore

my son has slept through the night most of his life so far. recently he's mastered the art of rolling over onto his tummy. now, he doesn't want to sleep for a nap or at night. i make sure he's not hungry, dirty diaper, cold, hot, or anything else that i can think of. he even does this when he's sleeping next to me (which i did this last night as a desperate plea to get sleep). nothing is working. he'll sleep for a max of 2 hours before waking up and crying. i tried tylenol for his teething and that didn't help. i tried nursing, laying down and nursing, i keep a couple binkies right now in his crib so i can find them in the dark. when i go in to check on him we have a small nightlite so i do not turn the light on to check him. we have quiet time and nurse time right before naps and bed.

  • It's very common for them to change their sleep patterns for the first year and even more. It's NOT common for them to set a pattern and stay in it forever. You are doing all the right things. KEEP DOING THEM. Consistency is key and he will go back to sleeping longer when HE is ready. It's really common for changes to happen when they hit milestones or master new accomplishments. Then they find a new pattern.
