  • be consistent with whatever you decide to do....we stick our dd in her room with her child lock locked (27 months), and tell her when she calms down she can come out...we make her apologize, and explain what she did was wrong and reiterate that she cannot do it...yes, they are still trying to figure out how to communicate with us, but throwing fits are not the way to get their point can't really prevent them either, unless you give in to whatever they're throwing a fit about....i'm a first time mom, so i know what i say might not always be correct, and i'm still learning with my dd what works and what doesn't. try a few different things, maybe try time out for two weeks, and if that doesn't work try taking a toy away and disciplining like that, once you find what works, be consistent in it, and your little one will figure out pretty quickly what he/she can and cannot do. good luck!

  • If your child is having a hard time verbalizing all his/her ideas, then signing might help. Most tantrums come from frustration about the exchange of ideas and information. Have you ever taken a foreign in language class? When you can conceive of great things but feel that no one can understand your big ideas, you the grown up want to scream too.
