How much do you pay on average for your monthly electric bill? Your gas bill? Do you live in a house or an apartment? My husband and I are looking into getting a 2 bedroom house and I was just curious what everyone else is paying?

  • I live in a 1500sq ft (roughly) 2 bedroom and I pay about 30 bucks a month in the summer (I turn off the furnace) for gas and about 30-60 bucks a month year round for electric. The gas goes up to about 100 dollars in the winter, but I am hoping to use my fireplace more often this year. It is a lot cheaper than I thought. I'm in the Seattle area, if that makes a difference. Water is the thing I am amazed at...who knew WATER in SEATTLE would be so pricey?!

  • Our gas is included in the rent. On average, we pay about $55-$65 a month for electricity (more in the summer, cause of our A/C). We have a small one bedroom apartment.

  • 5 bedroom home, 7 people, all electric except heat, $300 a month average. We use wood heat with LP backup, $700 a year for wood, haven't filled the LP tank since 2009.

  • Electric is rarely over $120, less in the winter. No monthly gas bill, we all have propane tanks in this town, we personally need to fill ours twice, maybe 3 times a year, and we pay it all at once if we can.

  • We live in Chicago, and have a three bedroom brick house. We are on the budget plan for gas, and pay $118 every month. Our electric bills run between $50 and 75 a month.
