my dd makes a sucking/kissing/suction noise on the nipple of her bottle like if you suck hard on something and then release and it makes a noise...

what is this? we just switched to a faster flow nipple so i know its fast enough for her...its like she isnt making a seal around the nipple??

  • My son only does that if it comes out too fast. We breastfeed, though, so that might make a difference. As long as it's not giving her gas from swallowing air, let her get used to it. If it IS giving her gas then switch back to the slower flow and try again in a month or two.

  • That could be or she could just be playing! My DS is 4 mo and he does that even when there's no nipple :) He just thinks it funny to make the sounds and it's also a sign of them being ready for solids!

  • Maybe the flow is too fast and she's trying to tell you it's not working - is she gulping or drooling a lot when she's drinking? Then go back to the slower flow.

  • Um, yeah, she's only 2 months old, she doens't need anything faster than the slowest flow yet. Switch her back. Too fast can be really really bad.
