Our education system is crumbling around us....

This is what I am thinking, our middle of the road kids is who were protecting. Our kids who are not going to further their education because they don't want to/can't afford to/dislike learning/ so they go out in to the job market.
So they need the grunt work, the low level jobs that our Mexican workers are taking.
Were building a wall to protect our kids from loosing their future jobs.
We need to get these kids who are smart enough to learn jobs out in to the work force. We need to educate those kids in a way that they can learn something new and interesting. So they can be our next workforce. There are billions of kid falling threw the cracks.
So were basically building a wall b/c we can not educate our children. We need to change our education system to catch those kids and get them trained and educated so they can learn what they need to learn.
HOw do you feel about this? Do you see this?

  • You are saying kids are falling through the cracks, they aren't getting jobs or are underemployed and the schools are to blame. How school works is different in every state. I live in AZ and children can go to charter schools or online schools and it's free. There is competition for students and many choices are available. Yet the teens and young adults in AZ aren't doing better than those in other states.

    Social problems are complex.

  • Check out Oprah today- she has been talking about the same issues. Parents need to get involved- our schools need to be changed drastically for our kids to succeed!!!

  • Not too long ago kids who where really good in school got to stay in school and the kids who had the basics down (reading, writing and math) got to go train for jobs they were good at, like the Construction trades, the Factories and the Farms. I think we are doing a dis service to kids that don't need Algebra and Physics that struggle to graduate. If the kids that are more hands on got to leave school at 8th Grade and apprentice they would have a better earning capacity when they where 18-22 like the kids who are on the path to college.

  • Billions may be falling THROUGH the cracks, but our education system - when properly supported - is still fully functional and quite effective. It's the undermining done by enabling parents that causes so much harm.
