  • Here is a statistical chart for preemies. I will be praying for her. The statistics of preemies are so much better than they used to be. If you need anymore info just let me know, because I have been supplied it by my OB because I am high risk and will most likely have a preemie.

Completed Weeks of Gestation at Birth
    (Using last menstrual period) Survival
    21 weeks and less 0%
    22 weeks 0-10%*
    23 weeks 10-40%
    24 weeks 40-70%
    25 weeks 50-80%
    26 weeks 80-90%
    27 weeks >90%
    30 weeks >95%
    34 weeks >98%

  • I am in two preemie groups and there are lots of 28 weeker babies in there. It is a very long, hard road but technology has came a long way

  • The youngest preemie I've heard of that survived was a mere 19 weeks! Check this out:

  • 28 weeks is good.. not great my cousin was born at 24 weeks spent 12-15 weeks at UCSF NICU;. my neice was born at 30 weeks spent 6 weeks at UCDavis NICU. My babies were 36 weeks and spent 3 weeks in NICU.

  • I would also like to add that if the baby is a girl rather than a boy, the chances of survival are at the greater end of the spectrum. I had a son born at 25 weeks last year, however he "measured" 23 weeks, each doctor who came to speak with me would use this wheel and look at the different odds, each time telling me something different. I will keep this child in my prayers.

  • yes both my babies were early. Kayden was 34 weeks due to me having preeclampsia, and i had nicholas at 36weeks b/c i was getting close to going into labor and the dr didn't want to take any chances. Both were csections

  • 28 weekers have a pretty good chance. under 24 weeks have alot rougher time. When my son was in the NICU the babies who had the hardest time had to be on the vent. If the mom gets the steroid shot to mature the babys lungs the chances are even better . The babys who's parents are very involved in caregiving do best
