Is it normal for a tooth that just got a filling to be achy?

I had three fillings done today. One was a pretty serious cavity and required a lot of work. It got done, but it's achy now. Not sensitive, achy, just kinda ouchy.

  • Yes, they may have hit a nerve or your tooth was sensitive. Try some Advil. If you have Anbesol or something like that, rub a little on the tooth and gum.

  • yes,, it is so horrible, teeth! it is just the trauma of having had them worked on... give it liek a few weeks and everything shoud lsmooth out and settle down like the fillings had been there forever, also expect some to fall out and smooth off, weird stuff to happen to make it good. ii tiwll feel diffweren tbut all the teeth will fal into place around it and adjust

  • i would try taking something OTC for the pain. If it persists, call your dentist.

  • Yes. Not only was the tooth traumatized but so were the surrounding gums. There's a lot of inflammation going on.
