What is really going on with health care now?

I really ask because I'm not sure. Not to cause drama.

Are there plans to start universal health care soon or is it something that will happen way off in the future?

Is the goal that everyone be on govt assisted health care?

Here is a timeline on when everything kicks in  Most of this will not go into affect until 2014.  We will not no the true affects until then.  The things that kick in now are to help until 2014.

No- the idea of the public option was taken out, which I think was a horrible idea.  When the exchanges are created in 2014 it will create competition in order to lower costs, but we have to wait until 2014.

  • Ohh you should really pay attention to things that are happening. Dr's are canceling medicare and medicaid services because the rate of reimbursements is so low. Insurance companies are stopping the offering of individual children's plans because it will raise the cost of all plans to much, states are worried they will have to raise taxes because they are being required to pay for much of the new costs to give these people medicaid, colleges are dropping the offering of ins coverage plans and the government admits about 20 million people still will be without insurance.
If you have a child who cannot be insured you can now get them on your policy when you renew. You cannot get them a single policy now. If you are 26 or under you can be put on a parents plan when it is renewed but you cannot do it now unless your insurance company allows it.
There is lots more bad, little good. Do some research if you want to keep up.

  • Really, OP...you have NO IDEA what is going on with ObamaCare, or when it is slated to be implemented?! Seriously?! Even your local 6 o'clock news discussed it a few times.

  • Also you will no longer be able to buy over the counter drugs or health aids and the family limit will be at 2,500 come Jan of 2011. i don't know why he wants to mess with our fsa who does he think that will help? The fsa is wonderful for us we are lower middle class. It takes some of the sting out of being sick. I have ra and buy a lot of over the counter things to help with that and it will hurt us that i cant use the fsa.
