  • Okay so how much beef broth did you put in? A pot roast should be at least half covered in liquid and it should stay about that high since it makes it's own juices... um...The lid is on good?

  • What kind of roast is it, how my liquid are you putting in? Try covering your crock pot with foil and then put the lid on to lock in the steam!

  • Sorry? According to your post, that's only 3 and 1/2 hours, so that's definitely not enough time. If it's a cheaper/tougher piece of meat, you'll need to cook it longer also (like 10 hours or so....and DON"T take off the lid while it's cooking. The temp will plummet and it takes a while to get back up to where it needs to be) Good luck.

  • Well it's only been in for 3 1/2 hours. I wouldn't freak out yet. I never put broth in mine, just add a little water with carrots, onion, potatoes and some spices. The meat just falls apart and it's so good.

  • ok um i didnt measure. i put 2 cans of beef broth and some water until i realized it was too much before i started cooking it so i drained some to half. where the meat was covered half full. the meat is only 3 1/2lbs. It is Beef Round Rump Roast Boneless and it only had one layer of Fat on the sides that i cut off. I also chopped half a white onion. i drained some more liquid. No i am not removing the lid all the time but i did remove it to flip it.

  • It should come out fine and you don't need to flip it.

  • Do you mean hard or tough?
    Pot roast needs moist cooking
It sounds like you added enough liquid.
Is it covered tightly to seal in the steam and liquid.
If it is hard, there might not be enough liquid.
If it is tough, it probably has not cooked long enough.
