Not eating as much..

So Gauge went from 8ozs every feeding to under 4oz! Should I try feeding him every 5-6 hrs instead of every 4? Or could he be sick? He has no fever but I am worried.

  • maybe he is dehydrated - so eating isnt making his tummy feel good so eating less - try giving him water and see if it boosts his apetite
if it goes on for a week call the dr.
babies wont starve themselves for no reason and maybe your dr can come up with a reason

  • I'm not sure, if he's eating more solids, like if you feed him table food or baby food he may just be getting more full and not as hungry. The closer they get to a year, the more solids they eat and the less they rely on their bottle to get them full! Hope this helps to ease your mind! Good Luck!

  • I will anxietly await to see what answers you get.. because my little girl is doing the same thing.
She went from 6oz every 4 hours, and now only wants a less than 4oz every 3 hours.
Mine is 8 weeks old today. And this has been going on for almost a week now.
She's wetting and having Bm's like normal.
But it's strange that she doesn't seem to want to eat.

  • sorry, just looked at your profile an saw that he's only 3 months, my son didn't start eating 8 oz bottles until probably 8 months. He ate 4oz every 3-4 hours at 3 months. Good luck, sorry about confusion!

  • Teething or not feeling well will do it. Did he recently get vaccinations?

  • i just looked at yur page, your son is the same age as mine.. mine drinks between 4-6 ounces a feeding, at least in the 12 hours he's awake. Which is about 24-28 ounces a day which is the norm, some babies eat more, some eat less... if she is eating then great, I would talk to her Ped, and see what he/she says, cause maybe your baby is right on, and you just might need to make smaller bottles.. Good luck in the future
