Can you help me find/remember an old news story?

I swear I read a story about a young girl in Africa that walked quite a ways w/ a younger sibling to find safety or medical attention...

I can't relocate the story and can't remember the details exactly - I want to say the girl was like 6 and her sibling was like 2 or 3? And I can't remember exactly where in Africa there are so many 'war ravaged' areas it's hard to keep it all straight.

Does anyone recall a story like this; maybe I'm off on the ages a hair but it's something in that ballpark...or have I just totally gone bonkers?

  • When I was in high school in the 70's, there was the famine in Ethiopia. Lots of people walked for survival. You can probably find hundreds of story from the Ethiopian famines just like that. http://www.commondreams.org/headlines02/0721-07.htm
