Birthday Idea

Instead of a bunch of gifts,I want to paint my daughters room she has colors already in mind and I was gonna buy new curtains and add in a blacklight that she wants and some new bedding. Would this be a lousy gift? I thought after all thats done then she could have a sleepover party with her girlfriends.

  • And, you could put a Happy Birthday banner up at the door.

  • That's a GREAT gift idea.

When it comes to older kids, teens.. Those types of things are gifts they really like and appreciate (rooms being redecorated, make overs for girls, shopping trips for both, gizmos/gadgets for their rooms.. ect.. just about anything that goes with their individuality and their "need" for personal space and expression..) . I know that was always the case with my son and most of his friends.

  • Sounds good and it sounds like she would like it.

  • I love CandyHorse's idea about the banner..

Maybe a Happy Birthday banner of the door.. And a ribbon across the door. Make it a ceremony of sorts, have her cut the ribbon for her new room.. I know it sounds cheesy. But really, teens like having their own space that is their's. KWIM.. And it is a pretty big deal to them.

  • I did the same when one of my kids turned 12 2 months ago and she LOVED it. She loves her room now, it's more "her" and she said it was the best gift ever!

  • That is pretty much what I did for my daughter's 13th party. It gets hard as they get older!
