YES! My example may seem minor to some, but my husband has been working 7 days a week recently on a business account, and my 8 year old isn't too happy with not being able to hang out with his dad much. At his Open House last week, my son's teacher showed me something he wrote that just broke my heart...he wrote "I'm sad, because daddy is working all the time and can't play with me."
The "kicker" is my son has autism and expressing himself has been a challenge. So, him expressing such sadness is extra painful for me. Naturally, I didn't tell my husband, it would crush him--he hates not being around so much too.
However, by Christmas, he will have secured an important role in his company--which in this economy is essential that he pull more weight--short term sacrifice equals long-term gain for all of us. I am doing double duty to make up for my husband being so busy, and finding special activities to do on weekends.
