How far before Halloween do you carve your pumpkins?

  • We decorate (paint, foam, glitter, etc) pumpkins the first part of October. We wait and carve the week before Halloween so that they last. We also do the petroleum jelly trick - it works great!

  • Only a few days. They tend to get mushy rather quickly. But if you coat the inside of the pumpkin with cinnamon you may be able to get them to last as long as a week.

    We semi-comprised on the day... now it's 3 days before....

  • I usually buy the pumpkins last minute so within the week or so is when they get carved. It's a lot of fun but when I've cut them too soon they can go bad quicker.

  • We do ours about a week. We rub petroleum jelly on the inside of them to keep them from drying out before halloween and they always look wonderful :)

  • Never... I've never figured out how or seen any fun in that kind of thing... We get the little ones and paint them instead. Usually around the beginning of October...
