Laundry/Front load washer

I need advice! We have a higher end front load washing machine, and have hated it from the start! Not only does it seem that our clothes just don't get really clean, they have started to have an odor that we can't get out. It smells like we let everything sit in the washer for a few days before we dry them, which we don't. Once the smell is captured into the clothes, we can't seem to get it out. Does anybody have any tips or tricks, or products that they use to get their clothes smelling really clean? We have tried a variety of detergents, and we always have the door open when we aren't using it (to let it dry and not mold inside). Ugh, so disgusted - please help!

  • Sorry! I totally put this in the wrong category of "general parenting"! Help is still appreciated :)

  • You need to wipe the rubber seal of the door out really good with a vinegar baking soda solution. Then leave the door open when you aren't using the machine.
You can also run a cycle with just HOT water and put vinegar and baking soda in for the detergent.

  • There's a product called "Affresh" that you can use once a month to help with the smell. It goes right into the drum.

  • Vinegar.

Use it for the clothes, too.

    Baking Soda.

I agree with Twinsplus2more all the way.

Or, do hot water and 2c bleach for a cycle.

  • Tide makes a washing machine cleaner that runs through a regular cycle (no clothes) and it works well. We use this once a month to help. I also add a 1/2 cup of Borax in the prewash with all of our laundry and that helps as well.

  • There is a little door on the bottom of your washer. Open it. There is access to a drain in there. Drain it.

    Clean the rubber seal.

Runa hot water wash with nothing in there once a month.
