We're getting a new Christmas tree this year, so here is the question...multi-colored lights or clear lights?

  • if you want a really elegant tree and only want to use ornaments that match or all have a theme, then get clear/white....BUT if you have a mis-match of muticolored ornaments ane want a 'warmer'/'homey'/'family' tree then get multicolored....i am going to have a hard time with this this year too because i have a child this Christmas to i HAVE to get a tree : )

  • I prefer multi-colored.

  • i prefer lots and lots of clear lights..with the C7 or C9 colored-bulbs thrown in here and there. since i made the color-theme pale green/silver, the bigger bulbs are light green..sounds weird, but looks beautiful!

  • oh thats tough and I wrestle with that every single year. I always use multi, but I so want to try clear.

  • Clear. When the multi-color ones burn out, you can't always color match and the replacements stand out. Same if a strand burns out and you need to pull it and replace it. It's far easier to find clear lights that will blend, even if they're not exactly the same. You can still add color to it by using translucent ornaments hung just in front of a light.
