how is this guy getting away with having multiple wives?

im not against it...i think it sounds like an awesome lifestyle, but isnt it illegal? how is he getting away with it?

im watching 'sister wives' btw about a Polygamist family in Utah

  • It's illegal in every state. Most likley he isn't LEGALLY married to all 3 but married through the church instead.

  • I dont know but it would be nice to have three husbands. Im a sahm so two extra incomes wouldnt hurt

  • I think maybe they can get away with it because only his first wife is the legal wife & the other two are considered cohabitants. Only the first wife would have any real rights in the marriage as far as property, medical decisions for her husband, etc. would be concerned, while the other two would only have legal rights to their own children & personal property (clothing, jewlery, bank accounts in their own names, etc.).

  • The Mormans legally and spiritually marry their first wife. All sister wives are spiritual wives.
