Good Grades, Reward?

My kids have been getting wonderful grades this semester, and I wanted to get them something special. Marcus my 6 year old loves cars and action figures, my twin girls Jessica and Julia are into other. Jessica loves to draw and make crafts. Julia on the other hand loves sports, shes in soccer. I don't have that much money but they haven't been getting any toys or extra things lately, and they don't complain so I think its reasonable to give them a little something, something. What do you moms think I should give my kids. (I know I shouldn't have put Cafe in my screen name please don't coment on that)(I ight have put this in the wrong category forgive me)

  • When I was young my parents did $10 for As, $5 for Bs and no money for lower grades. (I think this started in high school... maybe 7th or 8th grade...).
I think giving them a reward at the middle of the semester is an encouragement to do well.

  • I only have one in school right now. When she brought home a good report card I asked her what she wanted. I would list things like picking a resturant to eat at, going to see a movie, getting a toy etc.

  • We look at chores and allowance from a different perspective. My spouse and I don't get paid for doing laundry, vacuuming, mowing the lawn, etc.; we certainly are not going to pay our child to be a 'good roommate". We do, however, have jobs where we get paid; if our performance is exceptional, we might even get a bonus. So, we pay for grades. You need to decide what is an appropriate amount for your children (ours is in 10th grade)
    • A - $25
    • B - $10
    • C - 0
    • D - -$10
    • F - - $25
    • Honor roll (based on GPA) bonus - $25
    • Principal’s honors (based on letter grade)- $25
    • Half of all money goes to savings
    • final grades pay double
