Which book, movie, or story most misrepresents your faith?

This question is for anyone of any faith.

While I love Robin Tunney and Fairuza Balk, I don't like the movie "The Craft." While it shows "light" and "dark" magick, it's not truly magick. There is no Menol, for instance, and some spells and curses (not recommended, mind you) shown are just ludicrous. If you want a magick-related movie, the best one I can think of, for now, is Practical Magick.

Anyone else?

  • Well, you took my first thought - the Craft...
But really, I'm Pagan, what movie DOES properly portray Pagans or Witches?

LOL.. This is what I was thinking in regards to Sikhism and Hinduism. What movie actually gives a good portrayel or representation of these faiths. Especially an American or Western film that many would have ever heard of.. lol

  • Sabrina - Good point! Like I said, the closest one might be Practical Magic. Aside from that, I can't think of any good examples. Another bad example is that terrible movie duo of the Blair Witch Project.

  • I did find something to share.. lol

There is a 30 minute PBS documentary titled "Sikhs in America"..

Maybe someone who's never heard of or doesn't know that much about Sikhs will find it interesting.

  • I have yet to see Practical Magic...

Willow is rather close in a way... But it really doesn't portray Pagans, per-say.

  • Sabrina - I can see how Willow would fit. I have a need to watch that movie again soon... and maybe because of the young Val Kilmer, lol.

  • I can name tons. Pretty much any time Hollywood gets near a character that's Pagan, they have to screw it up somehow.
