  • I've been told to transition after they have tried all the 1st foods with no reactions and can sit up without support. Any new ingredient still needs to be introduced slowly to monitor for allergies.

  • I never bothered with stage 1 foods at all. Stage 2's are only a tiny bit thicker and the jars are bigger for the same money.

  • Pinkclover - you did not ask a stupid question. Remember, all babies are different. Some are ready for certain milestones early while other late. I used to ask myself that same question. But I watch my daughter in take. On some day she finish the 1st baby food completely while other day she only want half. She didn't start taking 2nd baby food until 8 months. I did tried different food to her every 3 days to watch for allergies. But 1st or 2nd baby food are no different. Just the quantity increase. So if your baby seem to want to eat more, then perhaps 2nd food is the right time.
