Yucky, dirty, gunky little boy fingernails...

My 2 year old has the dirtiest fingernails ever! I keep his nails trimmed, can wash his hands and literally 5 minutes later his nails are disgustingly dirty. Is anyone else's little one like this? Any tips on keeping them cleaner?

  • Little girls have this too.
I like summer because the pool helps keep them clean.
We also dig our nails into bars of soap. Kids love to do this. The soap doesn't look that good, but it really helps keep the nails clean.

  • Buy a nail brush. Other than that, no way to keep them clean 24-7 unless he wears gloves or never plays ;)

  • I have a nail brush by the bathroom sink and one in the tub. So when he washed his hands he can scrub his nails as well. right now you will have to help him out ut as he gets older he will be able to do it himself

  • How frustrating...I wish there was a magically way to keep them clean. I might try a nail brush, I can get them pretty clean with a washcloth and warm water, he's just a messy little man I guess :)

  • tootoobusy, great idea! It wouldn't work well for my kids because of their Autism they have severe sensory issues and it would probably set them off, but a great idea for others!
