If Republicans win the majority of Congress, will they investigate Obama's birth place?

Dem Whip: GOP majority will issue birther subpoenas
By Jordan Fabian - 09/27/10 12:08 PM ET

House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-S.C.) warned Republicans will investigate President Obama's birthplace if they take over Congress.

Clyburn, the third-ranking Democrat in the House, said Republicans will grind the government to a halt by issuing subpoenas against the Obama administration over a number of issues if they take power. He predicted that "gridlock" in Congress would "define" Obama's first term if Republicans win the House, but expressed confidence his party would prevail.

  • I doubt it and hope not. First it would not matter after the fact and second, it sure won't help get the country back on track

  • It would be a waste of money. I would hope they would pursue more serious allegations. You know the ones involving Rangel, Waters, bishop, Johnson, etc.

  • Why don't we stop spending all the money. (you know the borrowed money..........the money we don't have to spend) That will fix the country faster than anything.

  • I believe there is some problem or he wouldn't be spending millions to protect his long form certificate. However, I have no desire to see Pelosi or Biden in charge.

History will tell the true well as the tale of how bad a president he really was.

  • I know this an ignorant answer but why would they do that? Is it because of the rumors that he wasn't born here and he's birth certificate is a fake?

  • Well, I would be interested in knowing the truth. But, at this point, I think it would create more problems than it would solve.

  • They find every woman or man you've ever had sex with, they investigate your drunk brother, they know if you ever demonstrated for anything, if there are any inappropriate photos ever taken of you, they know if you smoke, tried drugs, burned a bra, who you voted for, if you eat meat, blah blah blah blah blah. Does anyone REALLY think that if Obama wasn't a US citizen we wouldn't know about it??? I can't even stand this assine conversation for another SECOND.

  • Key sentence here... "...Republicans will grind government to a halt...". Party of No, party of obstruction, party of negativity with absolutely NO positive input or solutions whatsoever. Frankly, I think it's disgusting. And seriously people, do you HONESTLY believe a presidential candidate isn't checked out thoroughly before the actual elections? Like Obama said, what do people want him to do, glue his birth certificate to his forehead?

  • Can you say, "Fear tactic"? At this point, there are so many more issues that need urgent attention than PBO's birth place. The dems are just running on fear and any sad attempt to make the repubs look bad. Don't they realize we care about issues and not being afraid?
