Are there shows you don't allow your children to watch?

As my kids get older, I'm finding I need to censor their television watching a little more. They only watch maybe 1-2 hours a day which I even think is a little much, but I have three kids still at home and need to get stuff done during the day. What are the shows you don't let your kids watch?

  • There are shows *I* watch I don't allow my kids to watch with me: Nip/Tuck, Californication, Weeds, Deadwood, Queer as Folk, Torchwood, etc.

But for the most part, my kids pick stuff like dinosaur documentaries and Mythbusters, which I don't have a problem with.

  • Usually all the shows on HBO & Showtime that we watch like Dexter and TrueBlood. I also ban crud like Family Guy and crude things of that nature. Between homework and activities the kids really don't have much time for TV though.
My oldest is pretty good about not having to be censored. He loves the History channel and also enjoys watching things like Survivor and ANTM with me. My little momma's boy =)
If I had little ones at home I would probably stick with Disney Channel. Nickelodeon gets pretty raunchy.

  • I'd say in my case there are only a few shows I let my 2.5 year old watch - Sesame Street, Yo Gabba Gabba and sometimes Dora. There's too much garbage on TV, I was surprised to hear a character on Sponge Bob call the other character an "idiot" and then in the next minute another character call another one "stupid". Nice, huh? lol

  • My son is only 2 so there are few things I let him watch. He loves Sesame Street, Caillou (bleh), and Scooby Doo (the version on DVD...I think the cartoon network version is a little too scary.)
As he grows he wont be allowed to watch the Disney Channel. I think their tween shows are way innapropriate.
