when do babies start playing with rattles and stuff

my baby is 3 months old and she doesnt try to play with anything, she barely reacts to a mobile. she looks at a rattle but theres no reaction. when did your babies start playing with stuff?? am i being too paranoid??

  • Kaylee didn't actually pick up her rattle and start playing with it until about 4 months, maybe more actively at around 4 1/2 months.
    At 3 months I had a little thingy that had toys that hung above her head, one of them had a ball that if you hit it it would make music, at around 3 months she was practicing her hand eye coordination trying to hit the ball.

    Remember that every baby develops at a different rate! No worries mama!

  • My Daughter was around 3.5-4 months before she played with any kind of rattle, or teether. It's nothing to fret about. As long as she makes good eye contact and is generally meeting her milestones, its nothing to worry about. Just make sure you work with her everyday on how to play/pick up the rattle or teether. If she doesn't make an attempt within the next few weeks call her Pediatrician and just ask him about it. But, as mentioned, its probably nothing to worry about. All babies develop at different paces. Hope this helps!
