What are some good board games for a 3 year old?

He likes to play Candyland, Chutes and Ladders, and Memory, but I was wondering if there were other games that your 3 year old likes to play.

  • Operation is fun, but can be a little nerve wracking. My dd gets a little scared of the buzzing sound.
My dd loves go fish, connect four, & the ones you've mentioned.. Have you thought of Cootie, or the Elefun game? She loves those, too?

  • CandyLand was my first guess. My 4 yr old know speed - card game. Teaches counting, etc.

  • Hullabaloo by Cranium - it's not technically a board game, but my kids loved it! And it's a classic, but my kids could never get enough of Memory - we had several different sets (when they were really young and we started, I pulled out most of the cards and started playing with just a few matches, then worked our way up)

  • We have the electronic version of Life and my son loves he. He's 4 now, but we started playing it when he was about 3 1/2. It's nice because I can set it to a short game if we have a limited about of time OR i can set it to a long game if we have a few hours to blow. And because there are so many options, it keeps his attention almost the whole time. Plus hubby and I have a ball playing it with him.
