he loves to flush

my son LOVES to flush the toilet. i dont let him go in there except to potty so he will tell me he has to potty every 15 or 20 minutes then will go in there force just enough out so he can flush and wash his hands. sometimes he wont even finish peeing before he tries to jump off the toilet so he can flush it and i wind up getting sprayed. ive been told that this is really good considering he is only 19 mths and usually they are afraid of flushing and pooping in the potty. i dont know however whether i should go along with it and continue taking him every time he asks or punish him for "crying wolf". that seems a little harsh and all the practice is probably a good thing, but its annoying and i dont really have time for all this flushing, and i know for a fact they wont go for it at day care.
*we have only been potty training just over 2 weeks, he hardly has accidents and poops in the potty and is 19 months old

  • wow....I wouldnt punish him for "crying wolf" because then he will think that he is not suposed to tell you when he has to go potty. I would punish him for jumping up to flush before he is done going potty though. This way you dont get sprayed down...

  • Keep doing what you are doing. He will get over it sooner or later, but punishing him in anyway for pottying will just make it a slow, painful process.
