  • No, like the PP said, he was born in Hawaii. You can't be president unless you were born in the US.

  • He HAS proved where he was born. If he hadn't, he wouldn't have been allowed to run. No offense to the person asking the question, but, the statement saying he was born in Kenya was a load of BS.

  • Actually, you CAN be President if you were born overseas, in certain circumstances - namely, if one or both of your parents are an American citizen, and your mother happens to give birth overseas. Because, as far as US citizenship goes, a child "inherits" their parents' nationalities.

For example - our dd was born while we were stationed overseas, but not on a US base, and she wasn't born in a US military hospital (so there is no way she was born on any sort of "US" soil). She has a foreign birth certificate, but she also has a Consular Report of Birth Abroad, meaning that even though she was born overseas, she is a citizen by birth (as opposed to a Naturalized Citizen, like most people who were born overseas but have US citizenship are). This means that she can run for President or anything else, just like anyone else born in the States.

  • con't

So - honestly, as far as legally, it really doesn't matter if he was born in Kenya or HI, his mom was a US citizen, so, therefore, unless he denounced his citizenship, so is he - one by birth, not naturalization.

  • What about when he lived in Indonesia? I have heard that he had to change his citizenship as they don't allow dual-citizenship?
