Activities for a birthday party.

I am NOT an imaginative person. I need help with activities and things to do during a 4 y/o's birthday party. The theme will be Star Wars. I have a decent craft supply. Kids attending will be between babies and around 8 years old. Ideas anyone??

  • The easiest thing for you would be to rent a bouncy house.

  • My son is also having a Star Wars theme. I really like this site-

My favorite one is this- Light Saber Training Course
Before the party make some light sabers with foam pipe insulation or
skinny swimming "noodles". Wrap 4-6 inches from the end with colored electrical tape to make a handle. One red, one black, blue etc. Cont...

  • To play, divide the kids into teams to go through a challenge course.
Each team will get one "Light Saber". Create tasks for each potential
Jedi to accomplish (not too hard) with the light saber in hand.
    For example:
Hit ping pong balls with the light saber
Crawl under a chair tunnel, go down a slide,
    Roll under a tarp
Pop bubbles with the light saber -- you get the idea.

  • Thanks!

A bouncy house isn't really in our budget, but the light saber thing is!

  • I always loved hot potato and so do my kids.

Answer by jshimmy at 12:36 PM on Sep. 29, 2010

  • No matter what theme you do, you can ALWAYS do pin the ___ on the ___. For my DD's 3rd bday we are doing Princess theme, so we'll do pin the crown on the princess (or wand or something), you could always do pin the light saber on the jeddi, or whatever. LOL

Another fun activity for kids is to do a ball bit. We bought a pool (like a swimming pool), and bought ball pit balls online from Walmart.. put the balls in the pool, and ta-da, a big ball pit! The kids LOVED it!

  • We always make cupcakes and have the kids decorate their own

  • We also do make your own cupcakes. You might look into using food dye to make the cupcake colors match your theme.

And we've done the ball pit. A big hit, but I wouldn't recommend putting the 8 yo in with the babies. It was a little hectic to have a 3 yo and a 1 yo in at the same time.
