What do you think of Proposition K?

San Francisco could be the first major U.S. city to decriminalize prostitution.
On November 4th, the city's voters will decide whether or not to approve Proposition K, a measure that forbids local authorities from investigating, arresting or prosecuting anyone for selling sex.
Prop K wouldn't legalize prostitution, per se, because California state law still prohibits it.
However, the measure would eliminate the power of local law enforcement officials to go after prostitutes.
Proponents say the measure will free up $11 million the police spend each year arresting prostitutes and allow them to form a union of sorts that would help protect their rights and safety.
What do you ladies think of this?

  • I think its a good idea. It would help a lot of the problems associated with it. I dont agree with prostitution but its going to happen so why not legalize it and then control it with health checks and taxes etc. Prostitutes would have to register with their county and pay taxes and if they are sick or addicted to drugs then they couldnt work.

  • Well prostitution is nasty, but if it was decriminilized a lot of the other crime assoiciated with it would go away. Also something I have womdered about, if a woman's body is her own to do with as she pleases, why shouldn't she be allowed to rent it out--prostitution.

  • Whether or not it TECHNICALLY makes prostitution legal, doesn't it give off the impression that prostitution is okay. What kind of example is that setting for people?

  • Exactly, collect tax, and it would put an end to pimps taking advantage of them, and make it easier for them to get help if they are abusedby their "customers" and stop them loitering around and harassing decent people, and a whole lot of other unsavory things would bestopped it it was legalized, plus, like in Vegas, they would have to be licensed and have health checks and stuff, too.

  • More power to these women if it passes. They should have to pay taxes on what they make.
