what is the difference between legal separation and divorce

  • for seeration, under the law your still married. divorce you arent. my parents just got a divorce after almost 20 yrs seperation.

  • One is legally binding: Divorce.
    the other one you;re still legally married until the paper is signed

  • IF I REMEMBER FROM MY LAW CLASS LEGAL SEPERATION JUST LETS THE STATE KNOW THEIR ARE NO MORE JOINT ACCOUNTS, IF ONE DIES THERE IS NO LEGAL BINDINGS BASICALLY. DIVORCE MEANS THAT BUT YOUR ALSO NOT MARRIED, I HINK ITS FOR THOSE WHO CA'T AFFORD IT OR HAVE DECIDED TO TAKE A BREAK.....I HOPE THIS HELPS AND I'M NOT COMPLETELY WRONG...LOL
