How do you stay focused at work?

I have a hard time focusing on one thing for longer than 30 minutes. How do you stay focused?

  • I usually create a to do list and give myself a certain time to complete. When I digress refer back to the list to see if I've completed everything.

  • if its a slow day, then there's literally nothing to focus on. I don't like just creating work to have something to do. To me, thats still wasting time cuz your doing something you don't really need to do.

I'm kinda bad on slow days, I'll take longer lunch breaks, longer potty breaks, cut out 5 minutes (but I go out a back door so no one notices). Not good, but I hate being bored. If I can get away with it, I'll surf the web or something. Or type up a story and to everyone else it looks like I'm writing up a work-related report.

  • When I really need to focus on something, I put my earbuds in and listen to my ipod or pandora, and I don't check my email.

  • Try to keep yourself as busy as you can. When you're bored, your mind will wander.
