Do you sometimes dread early school dismissal days?

When you have nothing planned for them (ie boring day)
or you were looking forward to a nice quiet afternoon?

  • My daughters' school does them every Wednesday. They get out at 1:25 and once a month, they get out at 11:15. I know how you feel.

  • 1st-6th grade get dismissed early every Wednesday. Even knowing its a weekly thing, it still manages to throw my routine off with my kindergartner who's home every day by noon, regardless.

  • We had an unplanned one today as well. Im just making them some lunch and letting them play with their toys & games. We're going over my MIL's soon so we are all pretty much just relaxing until then. :)

  • The only reason it does it because it messes with work, I have to find arrangements. But if I were home I would welcome it so I could see my little monster a little more that day.

  • Sometimes I do because it throws me off my schedule, but a lot of times I look forward to them and plan something special on those days. Also they are good days to schedule appointments on so the kids don't have to miss school for them

  • My kids also have a half day every Wednesday.  I HATE them.  The kids are so wound up and are hungry but we have no snacks here.  They eat lunch at school and get home at 1pm.  Dinner is at 5pm.

If it's nice out I send them out to play with their friends for most of the day.  I get so much more done without them here even though I still have 2 kids at home all day (they are 4 and 2 months).  It just throws our routine off during the day, I guess.  Plus they are so noisy I end up with a headache by dinner ever Wed.

  • Yeah they are a pain. But i just let my kids relax or take them to the park for a bit or go get a cone.

  • we had one today, unplanned, and they called to make sure I'd be home. I was like "Dang, I got nothing for em when they get home". I wasn't planning on them being here this early. So they are just on their video games. I didn't know what else to do and I didn't wanna really go anywhere today". Blah ;)
