Were you prepared (emotionally, financially, etc.) for your first baby when you got pregnant and when you had him/her?

  • Not really no. I don't think there is any way to emotionally prepare for your first. There is no way to know what to expect.

  • No - DH and I were still in graduate school and living in a 3 room apartment. Somehow I had gotten it into my mind that I would be able to continue with my research exactly the same after the baby came and when that didn't happen I went into really horrible and deep depression. We finally got a bigger place, DH finished his Master's and got an industry position and I became far more realistic about what I could and could not accomplish. When we had #2 four years later, it was MUCH easier.

  • Yes, we saved so that we could pay off some loans and then plan for our family. Emotionally could not wait to conceive. Had done tons of babysitting, at least.
