What are some cheap, fun activities I can do with my DD...just "girl time"?

She is the oldest, just turned 5...but unable to start school this year due to her bday. I am recently separated from their dad, and since her brother is the "baby" at 2 years old, it seems that I never get just time to be with her. I feel like she resents me, and it hurts.

  • Drawing together, cooking together, baking together..

Going to the library or park.

Letting her pick her favorite movie, making popcorn, smores some fun treats, and sit and watch it together.

Taking a long walk by water with boats, or something like that, I don't know where your from but hiking not far and then having a wonderful picnic just the two of you and let her talk... :) Listening!!! :) Have fun, they are all very resonable and stuff little girls like just with mommy...

  • You can take her to get her nails done at a salon and get matching pedi's or mani's. Or you can just do it yourself at home..... I think that it would be more fun to have someone pamper you both though.

  • you could take her to get her nails 'done' this age, that usually consists of a mini-manicure..little girls love having their nails polished. it usually costs about $10 or less for a simply trim/polish..and maybe $15 for yours (a real manicure).

does she like dirt/flowers? you could take her to pick out a few new flowers (seasonal pansies would be great right now), and let her plant them in a new pot. she can 'baby' it herself every day. if you've got a few craft paints, you could buy a terracotta pot, and let her paint her own design on the outside, before potting her new flowers. that would be minimal cost.

  • Does your 2 year old take naps? If he does when he takes naps the you and your daughter can do something fun together. Or if she gets up before the baby does spend time together then.

  • Is she a girly girl? If so you can do each other's hair, make-up, nails, play "girlfriends", cook, bake, play boardgames, play with her dolls.

You can also google "simple origami for kids" and creat stuff out of paper, that's fun!

  • Her brother does nap, and she is normally grumpy and naps too..but not everyday. It is so hard to "get along" with her these days, I feel like she's already a teenager...LOL. Her attitude says it all. She is a girly girl, but hates for anyone to mess with her hair. Loves painting her nails though...thanks ladies!! :)
