Should we go green just because other countries try it?

China is trying out the solar panel business and some think we should get busy on our "green economy" so they don't get to far ahead of us.
There is no way we can do solar as cheaply as China. Cost is the reason Green doesn't work here (putting aside the fact most of it is bull) so should we be forced to go green?

  • We'll have to use energy responsibly at some point.

Let's not waste our money on it now...what will have to we fill our greedy pockets with? We'll save that burden for our grandchildren's children.

  • No, we shouldn't do it because someone else is. We should "go green" because it's the right thing to do.

  • I wish they would make solar panels more affordable for the average person. DH and I would get some. But they are would never make your money back on them!

  • We're looking into solar panels and solar powered generators. It's not only the right thing to do, but also the smart thing to do. Who cares if China is doing it....everyone should do it. It's not a competition.

  • Why is the concept of clean and renewable energy so offensive to some people? That just makes no sense whatsoever

  • I agree with DEpley. We should make more educated decisions because it's the right thing to do for all current and future life sources on our planet. I love how so many remark about the financial mess we are leaving future generations, what about the actual planet and all her beings? If we wreck this planet and her resources, there will no longer be life to protect-

  • We should do it because it is good for us. It is smart. My in-laws went green in the 1940's,recycling and growing their own foods, etc. I learned a lot from them. And now that we have the knowledge and potential ,we should all try our best. I don't care what China does. ;-)

  • There is SMART design...  Design and engineering that uses less energy (saves money for the consumer, reuses materials to keep landfills at minimal capacity)...  Then there is the over-hyped marketing sh*t Gore and other liberals are trying to push...  Add to that the cap and trade (that is not SMART and efficient).  Cap and Trade is nothing more than a one-sided political mandate to stroke their special interest love fest...

Sounds like what the Democrats said about the $$ they borrowed from the likes of an inhumane China to pass the stimulus bill... ;o)
