  • Jesus was referring to Himself. He quenches the desire of the spirit for those who "thirst" for righteousness and salvation. The water that we drink temporarily relieves thirst. Physically, we continue the need to drink. Spiritually, we have the living water that we may be saved for all eternity. We no longer need to keep looking for "water' because our souls are need has been met. It is a metaphor, the same as when He calls himself the bread of life or a vine. He used them to give people an example they could relate to and see in context.

  • Everlasting life and God is the source and Jesus being the representative, spiritually. Once you have a sip, you will never thirst again. :)

  • A believer must be born again with water baptism, this baptism John the Baptist performed as a remission of sins. Jesus Christ was baptized not that He was sinful, but this was symbolic so that He could take on the sins of the world, At the cross, Jesus died and His blood was shed to cover our sins and make an atonement. When a person dies, the water separates from the blood, and when the sideof Jesus was pierced, water spewed forth, symbolically cleansing us of any traces of sin and wash our sins away. Blood covers, but water washes. Only the water from Jesus can wash away our sins on the outside, but because He is living, The Jordan river was the life source for renewing believers for the remission of sin, and Jesus is our baptismal waters, renewing and refreshing us,and restoring us daily with His sustainance. What happens when a person goes without water for three days? They die. Jesus lie in the tomb for three days...
