Have you ever done any type of writing during a hard time in your life?

When I divorced from my husband about twenty years ago, I wrote poetry to help me get through it. Did anyone else here do writing like a journal, diary or poetry in order to help you deal with what was going on?

  • I keep a journal and I write poetry all the time. It seems like every week or month there's something horrible happening to me, and writing is the only thing that isn't self destructive that has helped me.

  • I write all the time. It seems to really help me get through things. I think writing is very theraputic. My Daughter is only ten but she is learning the same thing.

  • Writing in a journal helps to clear my mind of its worries. I used to write a lot more often until my son came along. Now I do more praying than writing because I don`t need a pen or paper around for that.

  • I kept a Journal for about 15 years, until about 1990.. I haven't felt the need to continue ...I guess my life has "settled down".

  • i write stories, all kinds from kids to romance to scifi. it helps with depression too. i've got about 100 stories started but only 50 finished.
