Any ladies who use a bread machine have any tips for me??

I bought one last fall and I tried making a dozen or so loaves and not one of them turned out very good. I just went to the King Arthur website and found some really great tips but I'd love to hear more you.

  • The water temperature has to be lukewarm, not hot.

Measurements have to be exact. Do not cut back on sugar or salt, since they feed & control the yeast growth.

You should use bread flour, although I've had tremendous luck with using unbleached flour.

I have two bread machines and make all of bread. I have plenty of recipes to share! You can also join the Bread Machine Moms group here on CM.

  • I've never had good bread machine bread. it's always very dense and dry. If you want, here is a very easy french bread recipe.

It's not too time consuming and it's pretty forgiving.
